Our SkyBuy Buyer's Agent Service helps first-time airplane buyers avoid costly mistakes!

As your buyer's agent, our primary goals are:

  1. To make sure you buy the right airplane for your needs, one that we would be happy to own ourselves, and
  2. To make sure you don't get "stung" in the purchase process, with hidden defects, poor maintenance history, damage history, title defects, or any of the dozens of other ways first-time aircraft buyers find out their new aircraft aren't what they expected
  3. To teach you enough about the correct purchase process so that you can buy your subsequent aircraft without our help

SkyBuy works just like using a real estate agent to buy a house: We will be your personal search service and buyer's agent in the transaction. We'll look out for your interests by representing only you in the transaction. We'll be your sole point of contact throughout the sales process...your personal representative.

Here's what we'll do for you:

  1. We'll interview you so we can make recommendations about which age, make and model of aircraft is best for your budget, mission, and pilot experience.
  2. We'll send you the basic “book” values for those aircraft from the Aircraft Bluebook Price Digest, Vref Aircraft Value Reference, and National Aircraft Appraisers Assn.
  3. We'll send you third-party reviews of the aircraft we recommend.
  4. Upon request, we'll provide you with ownership cost estimates for the aircraft that meet your needs
  5. We'll search dozens of sources of aircraft for sale, including "hidden" sources such as private sellers, dealer-only publications, and wholesale dealers who don't publish their listings.
  6. Once we've found a few listings that we think should meet your needs, we'll email them to you for your comments and review. We'll include our thoughts about how the asking price compares to the market realities and the "book" values
  7. If we're unable to find an airplane that meets your needs which is published as being for sale, upon request, we'll send out postcards to current owners to see if any of them would be interested in selling
  8. We'll call each seller and get the real details...we know the right questions to ask, in the right order, to get a complete picture of the quality of the aircraft.
  9. We'll search the FAA and NTSB records to find records of any accidents involving the airplane’s serial number.
  10. We'll ask the seller to photocopy the most recent engine and airframe logs and send them to us so that we can read through them and look for "red flags" in the maintenance or damage history.
  11. We'll negotiate with the seller to get you the best price...we won't let you pay more than fair market value!
  12. We'll provide all of the necessary agreements and documents to thoroughly protect your interests in the transaction.
  13. We'll open escrow at an independent aircraft escrow agency, which will order a title search.
  14. We'll order copies of FAA 337 “Major Repair or Alteration” forms, and review them.
  15. At your request, we will have a certified appraiser inspect, evaluate, and appraise the airplane. Only an appraisal can give an accurate report of the aircraft’s value and verify that it is what the seller says it is.
  16. At your request, we will have the plane test flown by a local pilot, to make sure all the avionics and systems work and that it flies straight and true.
  17. We will oversee a detailed pre-purchase examination from an independent maintenance shop. (We reject about half the airplanes we because of problems turned up in the condition of the aircraft.)
  18. We'll help you find suitable financing and insurance.
  19. We'll show you ways to avoid paying sales tax on your aircraft purchase, and make aircraft ownership tax deductible

In other words, we'll do EVERYTHING necessary for you to buy the right plane at the right price, with the least expense and hassle possible.

SkyBuy is ideal for people who:

  • Are not pilots, or
  • Are new to aviation, or
  • Live overseas and need to find an airplane to import from the USA, or
  • Are pilots but have never purchased an airplane before, or
  • Prefer having an exclusive representative looking out for them when undertaking complex transactions

SkyBuy costs only $69 per hour, or $1995 for 90 days of unlimited buyer's brokerage services...and the first 30-min. telephone or email consultation is FREE!

We accept credit cards through the PayPal system or personal checks drawn on US banks. (Our typical client needs us for 20 hours from the point after which a suitable piston airplane has been found until the purchase process is completed.)

To get started, email us what you're looking for in an airplane, with as much detail as possible.
