ABOUT OUR
BUYER’S BROKERAGE LISTINGS

1. How We Find Them

Nearly every day, aircraft owners interested in selling their aircraft tell us about their planes through our Quote Request Form. At no charge, we take that data and enter it into the Aircraft Bluebook, Vref, and National Aircraft Appraisers Assn. software.

Through this analysis, we determine the fair market “book” value of the aircraft and provide it to the owner. We also propose a detailed selling strategy that will likely result in their selling their plane for a price that's at or near the “book” value, less our seller’s agent commission, in about 120 days.

Even if we can’t convince an owner to list his or her plane with us, we'll still post their aircraft's information on our inventory page for you to see. We can't list all the details we normally would on our killer spec sheets, but we tell you everything the owner told us. (And also list the fair market “book” value we gave the owner.)

These owners are interested in selling, but they have chosen not to have their interests represented by SkyMachines. Their loss is your gain: We will represent you, the buyer, instead.

2. If You Want To Buy One

If you're interested in purchasing one of our Buyer's Brokerage Listings, SkyMachines will become your agent and represent you, and only you, in this one specific transaction. We will protect your interests and deal with the seller on your behalf.

As your agent, here's what we’ll do for you:

  • Get more details on the aircraft (we know the right questions to ask)

  • Tell the owner up-front that you're represented by SkyMachines, so they know they can't put anything over on you. (Most sellers usually enjoy knowing that you were you're serious enough to retain an agent).

  • Obtain and email you numerous photos of the aircraft

  • Provide you with magazine reviews of the aircraft make and model

  • Further research the right price for you to pay

  • Shield your privacy from the seller until you and the seller sign our copywrited, detailed Aircraft Purchase and Sale Agreement

  • Negotiate with the seller so that he or she will sell you the plane at a price that is at or near the “book” value

  • Get the seller to agree to the terms and conditions of the sale in writing, on the Purchase & Sale Agreement

  • Order the FAA airworthiness and registration records and analyze them

  • Research any damage history in NTSB and FAA records (using every N-number the aircraft has ever had, not just the current one!)

  • Review copies of the aircraft logbooks to look for maintenance red flags

  • Order an FAA title search to make sure there are no liens

  • Open and supervise escrow at Insured Aircraft Title Service, Inc. or another FAA-approved aircraft title and escrow agency in Oklahoma City (so that the seller never touches your deposit or purchase money until the sale closes)

  • If you like, find an appraiser to review the aircraft and produce a detailed appraisal report accepted by almost all banks

  • Find a reliable, experienced shop for you to hire to conduct a thorough pre-purchase mechanical inspection

  • Supervise the pre-purchase inspection to make sure the shop looks at the most important items

  • Help you locate financing, insurance, and training

  • Most importantly: Protect your interests! The chances you will later feel “burned” by the seller in a transaction where SkyMachines is your buyer’s agent are far, far lower than if you try to buy a plane yourself. A single mistake could cost you thousands later; our primary job is to help you avoid making such an expensive mistake.

We typically spend at 20 or more hours every time we help a buyer buy a plane...but about half the sales fail because of mechanical or title problems we uncover.

3. All of the above is FREE...unless you buy the plane

We’ll do all of the above work for you at no charge if you don’t complete the purchase for any reason. For example:

  • If you don’t like the photos or some of the details we obtain for you...

  • If we can’t get the owner to sell at a price you like...

  • If we find something in the logs and recommend you not buy this plane...

  • If we can’t find you a loan to finance the plane...

  • If the shop we help you hire finds a mechanical problem during the inspection...

  • Or even if your spouse says she doesn’t like the color of the seats and won't fly in it...

...then everything we’ve done for you is FREE. No charge. Nada. Period. No catch. No “if’s” or “but’s.” Just walk away, go your own way, or hire us to find you a better airplane with our traditional buyer's brokerage.

To repeat: If you don't buy the plane, there is no obligation whatsoever. But if you do buy it, it’s only fair that you pay us for our time and expertise, right? So, before closing, in addition to your down payment, we ask that you wire into escrow an extra $995 if the book value of the plane is less than $30,000, or $1995 if the book value is $30,000 or over. Then, at closing, that amount will be paid to SkyMachines as a consulting fee. (Fair's fair, right?)

And from then on, you’ll sleep well knowing you bought the right airplane at the right price and didn’t make any expensive or life-threatening mistakes. (We'll also remain available for you in the future to provide advice at no charge, for as long as you own the plane. And, when it comes time to sell the plane, if you list it with us, we'll reduce our seller's brokerage fee by $1,000.)
