SkyMachines'
offers a truly unique training experience!

-
As you fly in, out, and around the majestic
Rockies, your seasoned flight instructor will take your skills to the
next level. Our courses for
already-certificated pilots are some of the most enjoyable but intense
in all of aviation, but you'll have a
blast. And the skills and the confidence you gain in the days you are
with us will last a lifetime... no matter what or where you fly.
-
Our instructors
are not trying to "build time" or move up the flying ladder...our
instructors are seasoned aviators who've "been there, done
that"
-
If you own your own plane, we will teach
you how to operate it, and its avionics, safely
in the rugged New Mexico and Colorado Rockies...a must before you fly
your family to "Ski Country."
If you aren't yet an
airplane owner, you can rent our
fun-to-fly 2007
Diamond DA40 XL, featuring the Garmin
G1000® cockpit and Garmin GFC700 autopilot, with XM weather
and active traffic avoidance. (Note: We can also serve as your buyer's
agent to help you buy your first plane...and then teach you to fly it
safely).

-
We're
the only school that specializes in combining mountain flight
instruction with
Garmin 430/530 GPS, WAAS and/or G1000 training.
-
For those
coming from out-of-town to train, each
training day with SkyMachines features 4-5 hours of flight and simulator
instruction and 2-3 hours of ground
instruction, and, if you're not too tired, 2-3 hours of self-study and
practice. Exhausting? You bet! Rewarding? Absolutely!
-
For those
who live near Santa Fe, NM, your
instructor will be readily available to teach as often as you like.
(Local customers can also finance their training. Contact us for
details.)
-
We've also proved that more learning
occurs on one cross-country flight than five local flights. So
much of your flying with SkyMachines will be in
the real world, from airport to airport.
You'll enjoy the adventure of heading off cross-country, flying across
northern New Mexico and into Colorado.
-
Mountain flying students
will visit 3-5 airports each day
(including some of
AOPA's Top 5 Toughest Mountain Airports).
Whether in our airplane or yours, you will learn about mountain weather,
terrain, aircraft and pilot limitations, avionics and autopilot
operations, and much more.
-
We believe that private flying can be more
safely accomplished if pilots follow some of the procedures and
standards developed over 75 years of airline flying. So
we teach airline-style procedures,
like "flow" checklists, use of the autopilot, cockpit resource
management, stabilized approaches, and airline weather procedures.

-
We also believe the airlines and
military have demonstrated the incredible value of flight simulation.
Our simulators realistically emulate a
variety of aircraft and save you money on aircraft rental. They reduce
much of the distraction inherent
in flying the airplane, and allow your instructor to repeatedly "back
up" and have you fly again a procedure you need to practice. In addition,
they feature very accurate
nationwide terrain databases so we can "preview" some of the mountain
operations you'll be flying in New Mexico & Colorado. They can be
used for 10-20 hours towards the instrument rating and to obtain or
maintain instrument currency.
-
We tailor each
training program to the student's skills and goals. Wherever
you are in your flying experience, whether brand-new pilot or seasoned
aviator, we'll adapt our training program to fit your exact needs.
